Cancer Treatment Center

The Live Oak Regional Cancer Treatment Center is a single story, 15,000 square foot cancer treatment facility. The building facilitates a full service outpatient cancer treatment facility. Included in the facility is a lobby, waiting areas, patient examination rooms, x-ray rooms, a linear accelerator room, doctor offices and a commercial space for a pharmacy. While employed by Architects Hawaii Limited-Torres International, Rios worked on the cancer treatment facility as an intern-architect. His responsibility for this project involved schematic design, design development drawings thru the construction documents. The position also required a working knowledge of construction methods, products, specifications, codes and regulations, including a working knowledge of details, codes and regulations of a linear accelerator, which is highly regulated equipment for the radiation treatment of cancer patients.
